Driving permit dmv hours?

if the hours for permit testing at the dmv are 9-11 and 2-4, am i supposed to arrive at 9 or 2...or can i arrive there anytime between those hours? and how long does the exam usually take?|||Any time between 9-11 and 2-4. How long depends upon the place where you take the test. Generally about one/half hour.
